The National Joint Powers Alliance will honor 46 students from 23 Region 5 high schools at the 26th annual Student Recognition Banquet.
The banquet is 5-8 p.m. April 12 at Madden's Resort, 11266 Pine Beach Peninsula.
The event celebrates area students as Rising Stars. Each is selected by his or her respective school staff, with the criteria that they are "unsung heroes" of their district. Perhaps they have overcome a huge adversity in their high school careers, or strive to do what's right in spite of significant challenges in their lives.
Donations from more than 40 local businesses, organizations and individuals make it possible for each student to receive $375 or more in scholarships, plus a chance to win door prizes. Visit www.NJPA.co/SRB for more information.
Included this year from Brainerd are Breanna Voss and Veronica Wynn. Representing Crosby-Ironton are Jacob Sicora and Michaela Reidell. From Staples-Motley, Jenna Trantina and Taeleigh Marlowe will be honored.
