Each spring, as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Rick Nolan sponsors a district-wide high school arts competition to recognize and encourage talented youths in Minnesota's 8th District.
The overall winner will have their art displayed for one year in the halls of the U.S. Capitol, and will receive a trip for themselves and a parent or guardian to come to Washington for the unveiling.
All participant paperwork and accompanying works of art must be submitted by April 15. Students should not send in their original art selection, but instead a high-resolution photo or scanned image of it.
Submissions may be:
• paintings, including oil, acrylics, and watercolor,
ADVERTISEMENT
• drawings, including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink and markers,
• collage,
• prints, including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints,
• mixed media,
• computer generated art,
• photography.
Those wishing to participate should email a high-quality photo of their art to jeff.anderson//nolan.house.gov/services/art-competition to complete the form.
