Nolan to attend diabetes town hall Nov. 24

BAXTER- A Diabetes Town Hall on Nov. 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. will provide an opportunity to discuss living with diabetes with U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan as a featured guest.

BAXTER- A Diabetes Town Hall on Nov. 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. will provide an opportunity to discuss living with diabetes with U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan as a featured guest.

The meeting will be held at The Journey North, 6785 Woida Road North, Baxter, and is sponsored by Dateline Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association. All community members are asked to attend, a release said.

"Fifteen years ago, we invited Congressman Jim Oberstar to a Diabetes Town

Hall and it was a great opportunity for our community," Quinn Nystrom, who organized the event, said in the release. "Living with diabetes is a challenge and we appreciate the chance to share with each other and our policy makers."

Almost 30 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes and an additional 1.7 million people are diagnosed each year. Diabetes is an expensive disease, costing $245 billion dollars in the United States annually, counting medical expenses and the loss of reduced productivity.
