Northland Arboretum will host an Arbor Day celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at
14250 Conservation Drive in Brainerd.
The free family event encourages people to get outdoors and discover the Arboretum and all that its 500 acres have to offer.
Attendees can interact with Pine Grove Zoo animals, participate in Master Naturalist guided tours, make May Day baskets, join guided bird walks, participate in a scavenger hunt, catch bugs, fly a kite, and learn about the fitness and dog walk trails.
In educational seminars, participants will learn about the trees of the Arb followed by a walk to identify species; area wildlife and their habitat; gardening; and beekeeping. All activities will be outdoors, except for the educational seminars which will be in the visitor c

Because Arbor Day is dedicated to the planting, care and conservation of trees, the first 300 attendees will receive a free tree sapling to plant. The first 500 youth will also receive a free event backpack.
There will also be numerous educational booths, a silent auction and complimentary refreshments provided by Culligan, Cub Foods, GoGo squeeZ, Old Dutch Foods and Super One.
