MOORHEAD - A nurse's aide at a senior living center here is accused of ripping the pain patches off the bodies of some of her incapacitated charges and using them for herself, according to charges filed against her.
Court documents filed Friday in Clay County District Court say Sherrie Lynn Walker, 56, of Fargo, admitted to a Moorhead detective last fall that she took patches off three of her patients at Eventide Senior Living Community on multiple occasions.
Walker told police she was unable to count the number of times she had taken the Fentanyl patches, which are used to control pain, documents state.
The missing patches were first reported by other Eventide employees, and a surveillance video shows Walker walking away from a patient's bed with the patient's patch in her hand, documents state.
Families of the victims reported they noticed a change in their family members, some of whom are described in the court records as suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's, and some who cannot walk, stand, or speak.
