ONAMIA — A broadside crash Thursday, Dec. 3, in Onamia sent a Brainerd man to the hospital with injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol received a report of the two-vehicle crash, which took place at the intersection of Highway 27 and Emmons Road North, at 4:11 p.m. According to the crash report, a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling west on Highway 27 when a Ford Flex stopped at a northbound stop sign pulled out in front of the pickup truck, causing a broadside crash. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound ditch.

The driver of the Flex — Master Feraud Hinkle, 33, of Brainerd — was transported to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia with minor injuries. Pickup truck driver Daniel Lincoln Dmytrasz, 36, of Mankato, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was not transported to a health care facility.

Both drivers wore seat belts, the state patrol reported, and the airbag in the Flex deployed. The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
