BUFFALO - A snowmobile crash on a Minnesota lake killed one man and injured the driver, who faces criminal charges.
Authorities in Wright County, just northwest of the Twin Cities, say alcohol may have been a factor in Sunday’s crash that killed Reid Ferguson, 21, of St. Francis.
Ferguson died after the snowmobile he was riding on stopped suddenly near the shoreline of Ramsey Lake shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, a news release from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver, Charles Webb, of Maple Lake, was driving at a high rate of speed when he attempted the stop.
Webb, 20, was taken by ambulance to Buffalo Hospital to be treated for internal injuries and has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide. The news release said he would be booked into Wright County Jail after he was treated.
The preliminary investigation found neither Webb or Ferguson were wearing helmets.
