Operation Round Up donations distributed

Since Operation Round-Up's inception in late 1996, more than $3.5 million has been donated to community projects and programs in Cass, Crow Wing and Morrison counties.

Since Operation Round-Up's inception in late 1996, more than $3.5 million has been donated to community projects and programs in Cass, Crow Wing and Morrison counties.

Operation Round Up is funded by participating members of Crow Wing Power who allow the cooperative to round up their electric bills to the nearest whole dollar. The additional change is pooled and distributed quarterly.

During their quarterly meeting held in October, the Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board donated $48,500 to local community programs. Operation Round-Up funds were distributed to the following projects: $8,000 to The Salvation Army, HeatShare, Brainerd; $2,000 to Bi-County Community Action, HeatShare, Cass County; $1,500 to Heartland Symphony Orchestra, Little Falls; $3,000 to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, Crow Wing, Cass and Morrison counties; $2,000 to Crisis Line and Referral Service, Brainerd; $2,500 to Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity, Brainerd; $500 to Brainerd Quilters; $1,500 to True North Ranch Ministries, Merrifield; $3,000 to Breath of Life Adult Day Service, Brainerd; $3,000 to Toys for Kids, Brainerd; $500 to Club of the Pines, Hillman; $3,000 to Lakes Area Pregnancy Support Center, Brainerd; $2,000 to Aadzuhman Shrine Club, Brainerd; $3,000 to Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen, Brainerd; $3,000 to Mounted Eagles, Nisswa; $3,000 to Faith in Action for Cass County, Hackensack; $1,500 to United Way of Crow Wing, Brainerd; $1,000 to The Crossing Arts Alliance, Brainerd; $3,000 to Morrison County United Way, Little Falls; and $1,500 to Private Cooperative Member Crisis Support.

The deadline for grant applications is Jan. 10.
