Outdoors enthusiasts with a passion for canoeing and preservation can join an expedition this fall down the Minnesota River.
Paddle Forward is putting together a group of 6-8 paddlers who will travel in tandem canoes down the Minnesota River from Aug. 28 to Oct. 5, and will connect with people who live, work and recreate along the river.
The program is focused on three goals:
• Work with K-12 schools through an Adventure Learning Model that engages students throughout the trip.
• Provide an experiential and unique learning opportunity for college students and recent graduates.

• Engage with river communities as the group travels down the river, to learn about different communities.
Paddle Forward incorporates technology, paddling, film and environmental education to create an experiential learning experience. By paddling diverse social and ecological systems in the Mississippi River basin paddlers discover the complex connections between rivers, agriculture, politics, water quality and health.
Paddlers will learn from professionals in the field, local business owners, river community members, other paddlers and the Paddle Forward project leader. The program is designed for people from a variety of disciplines.
