Pequot Lakes firefighters respond to smoke call

About 18 firefighters worked the chilly scene as the wind chill at the time made it feel 17 below zero.

PEQUOT LAKES — A homeowner trying to thaw out frozen pipes caused a small fire Monday, Feb. 8, at a Pequot Lakes house.

The Pequot Lakes Fire Department responded just before 5 p.m. to the fire on the 31000 block of Spruce Street in Pequot Lakes.

Pequot Lakes Fire Chief Tom Nelson said the homeowner was thawing some pipes in one of the back rooms of the house when he saw smoke. Firefighters responded quickly to the scene and contained the small fire in the back room.

The Pequot Lakes Police Department and North Memorial Health Ambulance assisted the fire department at the scene.
