Pequot Lakes High School senior Reid Pierzinski was selected to represent Section 6A as the male candidate in the state Triple A competition.
Pierzinski was selected out of four candidates who represented their sub-section. He will now be one of eight male finalists to advance to the state competition in Class A.
Brianna Kreft of West Central Area High School in Barrett will be the female candidate moving on from Section 6A.
"This is a first for us at Pequot Lakes High School," said Pequot Lakes Activities Director Marc Helmrichs, in a news release. "In the 30 years the AAA has been around, this is the first time a Pequot Lakes student has advanced to the state level. Reid and his parents should be extremely proud of this accomplishment."
The section winners will be be recognized at a luncheon during the state boys basketball tournament on March 24 and the winners will be announced during halftime of the AA boys state basketball finals.
