Karl Satterlund and Angela Gudahl, both of Pequot Lakes, will be honored with the HOBY Minnesota Outstanding Youth Award for volunteerism and social responsibility to the community this past year.

A HOBY (Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership) Minnesota ambassador contributes 100 hours of meaningful community service within six months or 50 hours within three months of leadership seminar. Ambassadors are nominated by their peers and determined by a panel of judges.

Satterlund, a senior at Pequot Lakes High School, and Gudahl, a junior, were to be recognized at this year's HOBY Minnesota Cheers Dinner on Sept. 20 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Bloomington.

Honorary guest Brig. Gen. Robert F. Clayton of the Minnesota Air National Guard was the keynote speaker.

HOBY leadership seminar teaches ambassadors to think, rather than focusing on telling them what to think.
