Pickup strikes Aitkin woman crossing Highway 169

AITKIN--A 72-year-old Aitkin woman was injured after being struck by a Dodge Ram pickup at 10:03 a.m. Friday, May 25, on Highway 169, south of 290th Street, south of Aitkin.

AITKIN-A 72-year-old Aitkin woman was injured after being struck by a Dodge Ram pickup at 10:03 a.m. Friday, May 25, on Highway 169, south of 290th Street, south of Aitkin.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported the Dodge was north on Highway 169, and Marilyn J. Oihus was crossing the highway, when the pickup swerved to miss her, but hit her, then hit a parked van on the shoulder of the highway.

Oihus was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, Jonathan K. Olson, and his passenger Christina R. Olson, both age 34 of Big Lake, were not injured.

The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
