Dr. Dan Rose of Pillager was named 2014-15 president of the Minnesota Dental Association. Rose is a general dentist in Pillager and also provides general dental services at Lakewood Hospital in Staples.
The other newly elected officers include: Dr. Peter Cannon of St. Paul as president-elect; Dr. Kevin Dens of Baxter as first vice-president; Dr. R. David Resch of St. Paul as second vice-president; and Dr. Howard Taylor of St. Anthony as speaker of the house. Dr. Travis Schmitt of Austin currently serves as treasurer of the association.
Trustees also elected to fill current expiring terms were Dr. Mike Miskovich of Grand Rapids, trustee from the Northeastern District, and Dr. Amber Cziok of Litchfield, trustee from the West Central District.
Sen. Julie Rosen was honored by the delegates in attendance and presented the MDA Legislator of the Year Award for her advocacy for improving dental access to public program recipients, fighting regulation and for her efforts encouraging growth in rural dentistry.
Association priorities for the coming year include working with the Minnesota Department of Health to improve oral health for Minnesotans as well as continuing to work with policy makers at all levels to ensure that the profession's and patient's best interest are always at the forefront.
