Staff at the Pillager Area Charter School attended the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs conference from Feb. 8-10 in Mankato.
Keynote speakers included Craig Boykin, Yong Zhao and Patty Wetterling. Boykin, who works with at-risk youth, talked about understanding where students come from in order to connect with them. Zhao, an educator and author, addressed the need to nurture student creativity. As a former educator, Wetterling implored those in attendance at the conference to be more supportive of students both inside and outside of school.
