Pillager Fire takes part in CLC training

Nineteen firefighters from the Pillager Fire Department participated in Central Lakes College's carbon monoxide, gas meter and propane emergencies course this week.

The goal of the class was to familiarize firefighters with the hazards associated with carbon monoxide, propane emergencies and to ensure they fully understand how their gas detection meters work.

"Pillager Fire did a phenomenal job during this training," Eric Makowski Budrow, customized training representative and FIRE/EMS program manager at CLC, said in a release. "We had a very productive classroom session and once we transitioned to the live fire training their skills showed as they handled the wind driven propane fires."

CLC provided the training opportunity with a propane gas donation from Leaf River Ag Service.

"We have dealt with these types of emergencies before, so we need to keep our training up on flammable gasses," Randy Lee, Pillager Fire Chief, said in a release. "These operations also show us the capability of our equipment and crew."
