Pillager High School teacher Gabrielle Schmidt was recently named by her peers as the Pillager School District's teacher of the year.
The award was presented Dec. 18 at a gathering. Schmidt is in her 19th year as a social studies teacher at Pillager School.
A colleague who nominated Schmidt wrote in her nomination, "Gabrielle is a dedicated professional and she exudes incredible passion in her subject area. She immerses herself in her subject matter and demonstrates her passion daily to her students. If you have never walked into Gabrielle's classroom, you should. It is filled with artifacts, posters and student projects from the time period that she is currently covering. Her positive and upbeat attitude inspire her students to learn. Her upbeat personality makes her an approachable teacher, her knowledge makes her a very resourceful colleague, and her overall demeanor makes her a trustworthy friend."
