Four Pillager High School students were nominated for the Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership Award, and the Arts, Athletics, and Academics Award, both sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League.
Juniors Jordyn VanVickle and Erik Peterson were nominated for the ExCEL award, a recognition program designed for Minnesota high school juniors. Eligible students must be active in fine arts and/or athletics, show leadership qualities and be model citizens in their community.
VanVickle, daughter of Travis and Jamie VanVickle, participates in volleyball, basketball, track, Unified Special Olympics and is a National Honor Society member.
Peterson, son of Paul and Nancy Peterson, participates in football, basketball, baseball, Unified Special Olympics, high school musical, band, choir, knowledge bowl and student council.
Seniors Julia Johnson and Sam Jensen were nominated for the AAA award, a recognition program designed for Minnesota high school seniors. Eligible students must be active in fine arts and athletics, show leadership qualities, be model citizens in their community and excel with in academics.
