After filing Tuesday to run for an at-large position on the Brainerd City Council, Monty Pintok decided Thursday night to drop out of the election.

Pintok, 21, is currently a student at Central Lakes College and president of the CLC Student Senate. He said he made the decision to drop out of the race in order to focus on his education.

"I've got enough irons in the fire as it is," Pintok said.

Pintok said he planned to formally complete the paperwork required to withdraw from the race today. There are six other candidates running for two at-large seats, all of which are capable of taking on the challenges facing Brainerd, he said.

"I was just kind of thinking about it and I'm like 'wow, that's a lot,'" Pintok said. "I'm serious about running, I just don't have the time."
