An 18-year-old Brainerd man was arrested for simple robbery following a report of a fight possibly involving a gun at about 10:33 p.m. Monday, July 1, in southeast Brainerd.
The Brainerd Police Department was dispatched to an area on the 500 block of Southeast 13 Street in Brainerd. Officers were advised the caller reported two people fighting and heard mention of a gun, police reported in a news release. Officers learned the remaining man on scene -- a 35-year-old Brainerd man -- reported being confronted by the 18-year-old man about a family incident that occurred the previous day. The 18-year-old began yelling at the older man, tore his shirt and then took jewelry and a wallet from the victim. Witnesses present at the scene identified the 18-year-old man to police.
Police later located the man at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and he was taken into custody without incident. The man remains in custody, while charges are pending and under review with the city prosecutor.
