BISMARCK - A Minnesota man was arrested in Bismarck after allegedly arranging to have sex with someone he believed was a 16-year-old girl.
Chris Brian Read, 50, was charged in South Central District Court on Monday with Class C felony luring minors by computer and Class A misdemeanor attempted promotion of obscenity to minors.
Bismarck Police Officer Brandon Rask posted an online classified ad July 15, representing himself as a 16-year-old girl “looking for love,” Rask wrote in an affidavit.
On Aug. 20, Read allegedly responded to that ad, representing himself as a 41-year-old man and later sent sexually explicit pictures of himself.
On Sunday, Rask wrote that Read made arrangements to travel to Bismarck and have Rask visit his hotel room for sex.

Officers arrested Read outside the hotel where he was staying. They reported finding condoms, sex toys, alcoholic beverages and Viagra on him and in his hotel room.
Read appeared in court on Monday and remained in custody at Burleigh County Detention Center on Tuesday afternoon.
