The Brainerd Police Department is investigating nine separate incidents of vandalism involving spray paint on vehicles, building exteriors, fences and traffic signs that happened about 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in northeast Brainerd.

Officers were originally alerted to some of the incidents when a person on the 700 block of 10th Avenue Northeast was outside and heard someone in the alley. When that person checked they discovered a vehicle was vandalized with pink or fuchsia colored spray paint on the hood and windshield, police reported in a news release. Further checking revealed similar spray paint on neighboring fences.

Additional incidents were reported Tuesday morning in the area of the 600 and 700 blocks of Ninth and 10th Avenue Northeast. One of the incidents was at Garfield Elementary School, 1120 10th Avenue NE, where an exterior wall and a basketball backboard was spray-painted with the same color paint in addition to a window being broken.

Traffic signs located at 10th, 11th and 13th avenues northeast and I, J and L streets also were spray-painted with the same pink/fuchsia colored spray paint. A truck on the 1200 block of L Street and the front window of a home on the 1300 block of L Street were also spray-painted in identical paint.

Police are asking anyone living in this area who may have outdoor security recording camera systems to check from late afternoon Monday to the early morning hours Tuesday to see if they observe anything suspicious, particularly juveniles carrying a spray paint can. Police do not have any suspects at this time.
