South Fifth Street between Norwood and Pine streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Monday, Oct. 14.

This closure is a result of Anderson Brothers Construction connecting the sewer and watermain within the street for Brainerd High School’s new performing arts center.

Barricades will be placed at the ends of the street, along with a signed detour using Norwood, South Sixth and Quince streets. The city of Brainerd asks motorists to use the detour to travel around the work zone.

Anderson Brothers Construction informed the city the work will be done within a week of the closure, dependent on weather.

Traffic in and around this area during construction should use caution when traveling through the construction site and be aware of surroundings, including using caution around large equipment and construction workers within the project areas.
