Rep. John Poston, R-Lake Shore, is encouraging farmers to utilize the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's new Dairy Assistance, Investment, and Relief Initiative program, which provides financial assistance for small- to medium-sized dairy producers who meet certain qualifications.
According to a news release, the program was funded through the agriculture and the jobs omnibus bills this legislative session.
“Farmers are the cornerstone of not only our local economy, but for the entire state of Minnesota,” Poston stated in the release. “Minnesota has lost far too many of our smaller operations, and that is having an impact on the area economy. I encourage farmers to reach out to the Department of Agriculture to see if they qualify for this new program.”
