A presentation and conversation about how trauma during childhood impacts incarceration as adults is planned at the Brainerd Public Library.

The event will be 9:30-11:30 a.m., May 6. The presentation will cover the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, the effect of the experiences known as ACEs on brain development, and the solution to the problem of ACEs-resiliency building.

The conversation will address what is being done locally, and what might additionally be done to combat the harmful effects of incarceration on individuals, children and families.

The primary audience for this event is volunteers and staff of the Crow Wing County Jail. Others interested in positive change around the problems associated with incarceration may also attend. This event is free, but RSVPs are required due to limited seating. RSVP to amynda.hadfield@isd181.org . Those with questions may call 218-251-4234.

The event is sponsored by Crow Wing Inside Out Connections, Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition, the Initiative Foundation and the mental fitness goal group of Crow Wing Energized.
