Nominations are being sought for presenters and performers for the inaugural TEDxGullLake Oct. 17 at Madden's on Gull Lake near Brainerd.
TEDxGullLake is licensed by the national TED organization, and is patterned after the famous TED Talks, a series of short presentations and performances designed to enlighten and inspire. It is being organized by local volunteers with funding by local sponsors.
The theme for the first TEDxGullLake is "The Art of Resilience," reflecting the growing importance the concept of resilience plays in the rural north.
The day will include 12-15 short stage events, each presenter or performer delivering their stories, ideas, or art in concise, meaningful ways.
Talk topics could include: resilience in rural regions; technology and invention; entrepreneurship, sociology and human behavior; science and research; arts and entertainment; personal stories of resilience, growth, and achievement; or any topic that inspires and informs.
