A law enforcement procession, joined by the fire service, will bring Aitkin County Sheriff Investigator Steven Sandberg home to Aitkin today.
Sandberg was shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday at the St. Cloud hospital, leaving a small community in mourning.
Law enforcement will travel on 35W from the Ramsey County Examiner's Office to Highway 18 over to Highway 169 to Aitkin. The procession may "swing by places near and dear to Sandberg," the sheriff's office said, such as the courthouse, fire department, school and football field before arriving at the Sorenson-Root-Thompson funeral home.
The procession is expected to be in Aitkin around 5 p.m.
There also will be a candlelight vigil at 5 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Aitkin. The public is invited to attend.
