Center of the American Experiment announced the Raise Our Standards tour will stop in Brainerd Wednesday, Sept. 29.

The Brainerd stop is part of a second round of meetings for organization after a summer tour of 17 cities attracted an average of 100 participants to each location.

The event will be 5:30 p.m. at Brainerd Industrial Center, 1801 Mill Ave. The event is free and open to the public and people can register at americanexperiment.org/events .

Organizers, in a news release, said the Raise Our Standards tour was launched “to counter the ‘woke’ political movement invading Minnesota’s public schools, turning them into ideological battlegrounds and threatening the quality of our children’s education.”

“We are excited to bring this successful tour to the Brainerd area so parents and taxpayers can learn how Critical Race Theory and the draft social studies standards are radically changing how our children learn about their country,” stated Kendall Qualls of TakeCharge Minnesota, and featured speaker on the Raise Our Standards tour, in a news release. “We are eager to travel across the state to empower parents and citizens to fight back against the ‘woke’ movement that is transforming our education system.”

Attendees will learn how to push back against the politicization of schools, the release stated. The informational session will cover the revisions to Minnesota’s social studies standards now in progress, “the movement that is transforming the education system,” alternatives to public schools, and how to get involved. American Experiment will also unveil a new online tool and resource center to facilitate communication about activities in local schools across the state.
