PINE RIVER - The Pine River Library Building Foundation Board recently voted unanimously to move forward with a three-season reading porch project. The $18,000 project calls for a 225-square-foot addition to be built off the north side of the library. The screened reading porch will have sliding storm windows to protect it from weather. Bids will be accepted and a local contractor will be chosen to do the work, according to a news release from the board.
Funds raised through several Library Foundation events have already started to be allocated for the project. Among the fundraising events being tapped are the Haunted Maze, the concession booth at the Bluegrass Festival and GiveMN.org's Give to the Max Day. The Pine River Lions Club recently donated $200 to the project. Fundraising will continue and grant opportunities are being considered.
The foundation will take over the Pie on Park Avenue fundraiser previously run by the Riverview Tabernacle Church. Proceeds from this event will to to reading porch project. A Rotary Club matching grant is also a possible funding source for this project.
