Rear-end crash injures couple on Harley

GARRISON--A Brooklyn Center couple was injured Sunday when the Harley Davidson motorcycle they were riding was involved in a rear-end crash while turning into a rest area off Highway 18 in Crow Wing County.

GARRISON-A Brooklyn Center couple was injured Sunday when the Harley Davidson motorcycle they were riding was involved in a rear-end crash while turning into a rest area off Highway 18 in Crow Wing County.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Harley Davidson and a Toyota Highlander were traveling eastbound on Highway 18 and traffic was backed up due to another crash. The state patrol reported the Highlander braked and turned into the rest area to avoid hitting another vehicle and the Harley did the same and rear-ended the Highlander.

Robert and Patricia Shaw, both age 59, had non-life-threatening injuries. Robert Shaw, who was driving, was transported to Essentia Health-Virginia and the hospital where Patricia Shaw was sent was not recorded.

The driver of the Highlander, Jill R. Kaufhold, 58, Coon Rapids, had no apparent injuries.

The crash was reported at 4:09 p.m. The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
