BEMIDJI - A 35-year-old Redby woman was apparently stabbed to death Friday evening in north Bemidji, police said early Saturday.

Bemidji Police, along with the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and Bemidji Fire Department, responded to a report of a person lying in the street in the 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue at about 7:15 p.m., according to a press release from Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin.

When officers and emergency personnel arrived, they discovered a female who appeared to have been stabbed numerous times, the release said. Emergency personnel worked to stop the bleeding and continued those efforts during transport by ambulance to Bemidji Sanford Medical Center, where the woman was pronounced deceased.

The woman was identified as Krista Fisherman. Mastin said the case is being investigated as a homicide. At this time, there does not appear to be any ongoing danger to the public, Mastin said.

The case is being investigated by Bemidji Police, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
