STAPLES - The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) granted the Region

Five Development Commission a $152,000 Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) grant to help move 10 projects, deemed to be of vital importance to the region, from an idea to reality.

These projects include: The Morrison County Tourism Project, Mt. Nebo Park Project, Five County Public/Private Health Partnership, Crow Wing Township Saferoom, Virtual Highway Project, Bridges Workforce Connection, Little Falls Processing Facilities, Little Falls Community Schools Garden Vegetable to Cafeteria program, Service Member Housing and Advanced Manufacturing Initiative.

The R5DC will support the projects utilizing a mixture technical assistance and financial assistance. In addition to technical and financial support to the 10 above listed projects, the grant will enable the R5DC to continue the community asset profile work of the 67 communities in the five-county region.
