OTTERTAIL - A major portion of a roof collapsed overnight at a popular waterpark in northwest Minnesota.

The roof collapse at Thumper Pond resort near Ottertail forced about 25 hotel guests to be evacuated.

Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Sergeant Reed Reinhold said the roof over the waterpark at Thumper Pond resort collapsed at about 11:57 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported in the collapse.

There’s no cause known as to why the roof collapsed, but authorities don’t suspect any criminal activity, Reinhold said.

The resort is about 35 miles northeast of Fergus Falls, near Otter Tail Lake.

The lodge has 78 suites and an 18-hole golf course on a 250-acre complex.

The Northern Hideaway Indoor Waterpark at Thumper Pond is 12,000 square feet with a three-story tower, according to the resort’s website.
