The Minnesota Federation of County Fairs recently honored Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point, with the 2020 “Friend of the County Fair” award.

Ruud is the chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Legacy Finance Committee. According to a news release, she is a steady advocate for the protection of resources and practices that have been the foundation of Minnesota recreation for decades.

"We are thankful for Senator Ruud's support, which has provided great opportunities for the Aitkin County Fair,” Kirk Peysar of Aitkin County Fair Board stated in the release. “This program is especially valuable for rural fairs, where arts and cultural programming often takes a back seat to operational and capital needs."

“Participation in fairs is part of being a Minnesotan,” Ruud stated in the release. “I am proud to support the MCFC’s commitment to the preservation of our traditions and the development of fairs around the state. I look forward to partnering with them in the future.”
