Sacred Heart man dies in crash near Granite Falls

GRANITE FALLS - A 37-year-old Sacred Heart man died in a one-vehicle accident near the Upper Sioux Agency State Park on Minnesota Trunk Highway 67 around 3:41 p.m. on Wednesday.

GRANITE FALLS - A 37-year-old Sacred Heart man died in a one-vehicle accident near the Upper Sioux Agency State Park on Minnesota Trunk Highway 67 around 3:41 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victim on Wednesday as Eric Mahlum.

Mahlum was driving a 2001 Honda Accord LX southbound on Highway 67 when it left the roadway to the right.

The driver overcorrected and went across both lanes of traffic to the left ditch, going a short distance before striking two trees and an embankment, spinning the vehicle over a gravel pathway. It came to rest on the passenger side against a tree, according to the State Patrol.
