Scenic photo: A potential rare sight

IMG_7240.jpg
Tony Wenzel of Randall captured a photo at his home of a possible varied thrush, a bird that normally only inhabits western North America on the Pacific Coast.

A rare bird seems to have made its way to wintry Minnesota.

Tony Wenzel of Randall writes: “I had taken this photo of this bird during the heavy snowfall this past week. It is the size of a robin and in the many years I have photographed birds, I have never seen this one before. My ‘birdie’ friends say that it could be a varied thrush, that only inhabit western North America on the Pacific Coast. I checked my bird book then and it is very possible a varied thrush. This bird stopped at my bird feeders to have a quick lunch before moving on.”
