School district says 'no threat to safety' after apparent social media rumor
Late Thursday night, Dec. 12, the Brainerd School District issued a statement via its Facebook page seeking to quell apparent social media rumors of a threat at Brainerd High School.
"It has come to the District's attention that inaccurate information is being shared via social media regarding a potential threat at Brainerd High School tomorrow, Friday, December 13, 2019," the statement read. "Please be assured that District administration and law enforcement have addressed the issue and concluded there is no threat to safety at Brainerd High School."
The post was published 10:24 p.m. Thursday. The nature of the threat or which social media platforms the rumor was spreading across was not included in the district's statement. Officers from the Brainerd Police Department were unavailable for comment late Thursday night.
