The Brainerd Area Environmental Learning Network (BAELN) will host a speaker on environmentally friendly lakeshore property design.
Paul Radomski, co-author of "Lakeshore Living: Designing Lake Places and Communities in the Footprints of Environmental Writers," will discuss lake-friendly practices at 3 p.m. Thursday at the 12th Annual Lake-Friendly Development Awards at the Crow Wing County Land Services building, in Meeting Room 2. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Please park in the Crow Wing County Visitor Parking Lot on the corner of Laurel and Fourth Street.
Radomski is a lake scientist that has worked for more than 25 years on shoreland development management issues and has published extensively on ecological and conservation matters.
Fragile shorelands require people that care for them, and that caring comes from knowledge, experience and an environmental ethic. Radomski and co-author Kristof Van Assche argue that an environmentally sensitive lakeshore place and community design is the way forward. Radomski will have autographed books available for purchase.
