ISLE — A 40-year-old woman was killed following a two-vehicle crash Thursday, Aug. 20, in Aitkin County.
The Minnesota State Patrol identified the woman as Kerry Lea Heiniemi of Goodland. The crash was reported at 7:51 p.m. A 2018 Freightliner semitrailer-tractor was traveling east on Highway 18 and a 2007 Lincoln Navigator was traveling north on Highway 65. The state patrol reported the Lincoln struck the semi and both vehicles went into the ditch. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Freightliner, Michael L. Terry, 33, St. Louis, Missouri, had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota DNR and Isle Police Department responded to the crash.
