Officials with the Minnesota Senate on Monday announced the creation of an Equity Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the Finance Committee.

"In an effort to address the complex and multifaceted challenges of racial and economic disparities, the Senate DFL Caucus has appointed a committee to develop legislative recommendations to address these challenges," a spokesperson said.

In addition to co-chairs Sens. Jeff Hayden and Bobby Joe Champion, DFL-Minneapolis, the 13 other senators on the subcommittee include Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point and Sen. Tom Saxhaug, DFL-Grand Rapids.
