NISSWA-A Cushing man faces criminal charges after allegedly burglarizing several in Nisswa last week.
Craig Edward Hines, 55, appeared Monday in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd and was charged with six counts of second-degree burglary and one court of gross misdemeanor third-degree property damage.
According to the probable cause filed against Hines, on Thursday and Friday burglaries were reported at Nisswa Smiles, Rafferty's Pizza, Big Axe Brewing Company, Adirondack Coffee, Meg's Cabin, Loide' Oils and Vinegars and The Dock Panther. Employees at Lundrigan's Clothing and If the Shoe Fits also reported damage to their front entrances but no entry was made in the businesses.
Among the items Hines is accused of stealing from the businesses include cash, gift cards, stamps and other items. Several of the businesses reported damage to the buildings and equipment inside.
Hines was identified as a suspect through surveillance video taken at several of the businesses. Witnesses also saw Hines at the Ye Old Pickle Factory from 8-10 p.m. Thursday and again from midnight to around 1:10 a.m. He was seen leaving the Ye Old Pickle Factory parking lot, walking in the direction of the burglaries.
