Sheriff office names fatal fire victim

MENAHGA--The victim found inside a residence Wednesday, Feb. 13, following a house fire in Menahga was identified as 57-year-old James Conklin by the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.

MENAHGA-The victim found inside a residence Wednesday, Feb. 13, following a house fire in Menahga was identified as 57-year-old James Conklin by the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.

The Wadena County Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 10:29 p.m. to a house fire on the 600 block of Second Street Southeast, the sheriff's office reported. The Menahga Police Department arrived on scene within minutes and found the residence was engulfed in flames.

The Menahga and Sebeka fire departments arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, and it took them almost three hours. During this time, Conklin, a longtime resident of Menahga, was located inside the home.

The Menahga Police Department was assisted by the Menahga Fire Department, Sebeka Fire Department, Wadena County Sheriff's Office, Menahga First Responders, Tri-County Ambulance, State Fire Marshal, Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, Minnesota Power and Minnesota Energy Resources.
