Sheriff releases name of man killed after ATV crashes with minivan

The 87-year-old Brainerd man who died Tuesday, Sept. 11, after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving collided with a minivan south of Brainerd was identified at Wayne Thiesse, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported.

The 87-year-old Brainerd man who died Tuesday, Sept. 11, after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving collided with a minivan south of Brainerd was identified at Wayne Thiesse, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported.

Thiesse died at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

The operator of the minivan, 54-year-old Troy Hanson of St. Cloud, was uninjured in the crash. The crash remains under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate Thiesse, driving a John Deere Gator, was traveling west on the ATV and attempting to cross Crow Wing County Highway 45. Hanson was traveling south on County Highway 45, and struck Thiesse's vehicle in the passenger side door as it crossed the roadway.
