BACKUS-The name of the victim whose body was recovered from Hay Lake Wednesday, June 13, was identified as Ronald Reinhart, 69, of Canton, Ga.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office released the name of the victim and the name of the boat operator-James Bifulk, 67, of Maplewood.
The sheriff's office received a report at 1:30 p.m. June 12 of two people thrown from a boat on Hay Lake, located in Ponto Lake Township, northeast of Backus. Responders and deputies arrived and located Bifulk, the operator of the boat, who was transported to shore and treated on scene for minor injuries.
