LITTLE FALLS-Two Little Falls residents were arrested Friday for first-degree possession of a controlled substance relating to the manufacture of methamphetamine.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was called at 9:25 p.m. to assist the Little Falls Police Department with an active meth lab it had located while investigating another police matter.
The Little Falls Police Department was dispatched to Walmart, 15091 18th St. NE., Little Falls, for a shoplifting complaint. Morrison County deputies also responded to assist.
Little Falls officers spoke with a 53-year-old man when they observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside his vehicle. Officers removed him and a 35-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed hazardous liquid chemicals related to the manufacture of methamphetamine. As a result of this discovery the Little Falls Fire Department was summoned to stand by. Task force officers discovered an active meth lab cooking in a single bottle within the vehicle, it stated in a news release. Specially trained lab officers removed the items and cleaned up the meth lab. It was later disposed of by the Drug Enforcement Agency out of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
The two suspects were placed under arrest, transported to the Morrison County Jail and are awaiting formal charges to be filed in Morrison County District Court.

The task force was assisted by the Little Falls Police Department, the Morrison County Sheriff Office, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Little Falls Fire Department. The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of police officers from the cities of Sauk Rapids, St. Cloud and Little Falls, along with sheriff deputies from Stearns, Todd, Morrison, Benton and Sherburne counties.
