The Brainerd Public Schools Foundation announced the sixth annual Big Event "Game On!" silent auction is open.
The Big Event celebrates public schools and raises funds for the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation, a news release stated. The event itself is sold out, with more than 300 attending, but everyone can participate in the online silent auction, even if they can't attend.
The foundation's mission is to enhance opportunities for quality academics, activities, arts and athletics by awarding annual grants and scholarships. Since 1996, the foundation made more than $200,000 in grants available to teachers for special projects that have had great impact on student learning. These grants are funded through general donations, Brainerd Public Schools staff campaign donations, the Big Event and other event proceeds, and five specifically endowed fund.
Bidding in the online auction is now open and will close at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Go to bigevent19.givesmart.com to bid from anywhere. There are more than 275 items to bid on with something for everyone, the release stated.
For those unable to get tickets for the main event, there is still an opportunity to "Crash the Bash" and join the Winners Lounge After-Party sponsored by the Brainerd Jaycees in the Legacy Grille, with live music from Dave Burkart. Tickets for Crash the Bash are $10 and can be purchased at www.bpsf.org .
