The Crow Wing County Snowmobile Trails Association, made up of the 12 snowmobile clubs in Crow Wing County, urged caution to snowmobilers in a news release before there is adequate snow cover on the trails.
While the snowmobile trails in Minnesota open Dec. 1, there are always issues the snowmobile clubs must address and this can't be accomplished until equipment can be brought out on the trails. The group stated there hasn't been much cold weather yet this year, which means swamps could be soft and the ice on the lakes can never be considered safe.
"When the snow comes, the clubs will move as fast as we can to get the trails useable for the season," the organization stated in the release. "But please remember that we are all volunteers, so our schedules vary."
