Snowmobiling on CSAH 36 not recommended until further notice

As contractors prepare County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 36 for next summer's reconstruction, the county is discouraging snowmobile and ATV traffic on the roadway until further notice.

There is currently tree clearing and stump removal taking place between CSAH 37 and CR 114, southeast of Crosslake. The majority of the trees have been cut down, but remain laying down adjacent to the roadway. The contractor is in the process of disposing of the trees to be followed up by grinding and removing the stumps.

With the onset of snow, these obstacles will become very difficult to see and can create a dangerous situation. The traveling public should be aware of these hazards near the edges of the roadway and snowmobile or ATV use of this segment of the CSAH 36 corridor is not recommended.

The project is currently signed as a construction zone, and will continue to be so until removal operations have been completed. Lane closures and traffic control by flaggers will continue to occur as needed.
