ONAMIA-Mille Lacs Kathio State Park near Onamia will host a guided snowshoeing activity on Saturday.

The program, titled Wetland Wonders: A Snowshoeing Adventure, will begin at the park's interpretive center at 1 p.m. Snowshoes are provided. Participants will receive a brief-how-to-snowshoe lesson, and then go on a snowshoe hike through the wetlands surrounding Ogechie Lake. On the snowshoe trek, the group will discuss the unusual plants of the bog as well as recent efforts to restore wild rice to Ogechie Lake. Registration is required and will be limited to the first 25 people. To register, call the Kathio Interpretive Center at 320-532-3269 and leave your name, phone number and number of people attending.

There is no charge for the snowshoeing program. A vehicle permit is required to enter Minnesota State Parks. A daily permit is $5. An annual vehicle permit, which allows access to all Minnesota State Parks for one year from the date of purchase is $25.
