The Brainerd Area Environmental Learning Network will host an information session on climate change resilience and adaptation today.

The event will be 3-4:30 p.m. today in meeting room 2 at the land services building, 322 Laurel St., Brainerd. The speaker will be Kenneth "Kenny" Blumenfeld, senior climatologist with the Minnesota State Climatology Office.

The discussion will focus on recent efforts to provide Minnesota with a consistent baseline of climatic information that combines the best available science with analyses of high-quality data, and helps people understand how Minnesota weather hazards are or aren't responding to global climate change.

The session is free and free parking is available in the county lot on the corner of Fourth and Laurel streets.

The Brainerd Area Environmental Learning Network is a collaborative effort of: Central Lakes College, Central Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District, Initiative Foundation, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Minnesota National Guard Environmental, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, The Nature Conservancy and University of Minnesota Extension.
